Outdoor luxury in Brazil: design, innovation and sustainability

The outdoor luxury sector is growing in Brazil with furniture that combines technology, sustainability and high-end design

The luxury decoration segment is experiencing a period of strong expansion. According to the consultancy Brain & Company, Brazil recorded revenues of R$74 billion in 2022 and has the potential to reach R$130 billion by 2030.

This growth is also reflected in the global market, which could reach US$838 billion in 2026. At the center of this evolution are pieces with exclusive design, which combine comfort, durability and connection with nature – especially in outdoor spaces.

Outdoor decoration has been gaining new layers of sophistication. The search for integration between indoor and outdoor spaces has driven the creation of furniture with a fluid design, designed to interact with the rest of the house.

According to Hugo Batista, designer of the Bux brand and CEO of the Mundo Móveis group, this market is growing, with a focus on exclusive, comfortable pieces that are in tune with nature. Especially for outdoor areas, flexibility and durability are key to this combination.

“We know that Brazil is often influenced by trends from abroad. But, to some extent, this is also starting to change, as the country emerges as a major consumer market and producer of luxury decorative items. When we look specifically at the outdoor furniture segment, some trends are quickly influenced by Brazilian creations,” says Batista.

Trends in outdoor furniture

Always focused on combining well-being with authenticity, outdoor decoration is set to undergo a transformation in the coming years. “Consumers no longer want a piece exclusively for the garden or deck, for example. They want an attractive and fluid piece that complements the rest of the decor,” emphasizes the CEO of the Mundo Móveis group.

Technology is one of the pillars of this new scenario. High-performance materials, such as open-cell foams, breathable fabrics with UV protection, and weather-resistant synthetic fibers, are already part of the reality of Brazilian outdoor furniture.

In addition, metals with anti-corrosive treatments, high-performance ceramics, and wood from sustainable sources complement the options.

Sustainability continues to be a priority. Projects that adopt clean production processes and materials with low environmental impact are gaining relevance among brands committed to ecological design.

“The emphasis here is to ensure that beauty and comfort are supported by quality and durability, withstanding climate changes anywhere in the world,” adds Batista.

Nature continues to provide inspiration for decorative pieces. Organic lines and soft contours are also guiding outdoor decoration, which acquires the status of functional sculpture, capable of enriching the architecture of gardens, balconies and rooftops with originality and lightness.

The idea, according to Batista, is that outdoor furniture can provide a sensory experience that invites one to welcome oneself.

Comfort, function and style

In increasingly optimized spaces, modularity also stands out. Sofas that adapt to the environment, multifunctional poufs and folding lounge chairs offer flexibility without sacrificing elegance.

Contemporary design still seeks inspiration in natural forms, valuing organic lines and soft contours that transform furniture into almost sculptural pieces.

The idea is to create a complete sensory experience. “Increasingly aligned with nature, outdoor furniture needs to generate connections: between indoor and outdoor environments, between the daily routine and the well-being of arriving home, and between enchanting with sophistication and welcoming with comfort”, highlights the CEO of Mundo Móveis.
